Customer Questions & Answers
Are there any additional fees?
Our rental fee includes everything – including shipping both ways. However there are circumstances in which additional fees will be incurred. They include but are not limited to:
- Not all products are returned with your rental. This includes all foam and protection material included in your shipment, power cables, bags and remotes.
- The original box has been lost and a new box is used to return your rental. There is an additional fee in this situation because the replacement box will always be bigger and incur additional shipping expenses. These additional shipping expenses will be passed onto you.
- Lights are returned damaged, wet, or in any shape other than the way they left the warehouse.
- You do not use the return label when dropping off the package(s) at UPS. This will result in your package being delivered to you again. In this case you will be responsible for the shipping cost to return the package to American Party Lights.
How does free shipping work?
We ship your rental to you free of charge, it will arrive at least 2 days prior to your event. When you are done with your rental simply drop off the package at any UPS location using the pre-paid UPS shipping label. Please note: If you’d like to schedule a UPS pickup at your home or business location an additional fee will be charged to your rental. For last-minute. reservations requiring expedited shipping an additional charge will be charged. We will always approve this charge with you prior to proceeding with your reservation.
How/When do I pay the balance of my reservation?
Your balance is due 2 weeks prior to your reservation. You will receive an email reminder at that time with instructions for logging into your account to make payment. If you would like to pay your balance at any point before this please contact us.
Do I need to pay for shipping when returning the lights?
No. We include a pre-paid return label with your rental. Simply place the return label over the label on the box and drop off the box at your nearest UPS location.
Is the generator waterproof?
No. Although the generator can be used outdoors it must be covered/protected from the elements.
Can the generator be used indoors?
Yes, the battery powered generator can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Can I power other devices into the generator?
The generator is intended to power our light rentals (string lights, uplights, etc). Although we can’t restrict you from plugging other devices into the generator we cannot stress the fact that it will deplete the capacity quickly.
Add-On Item
The Battery Powered Generator is available for rent when combined with other light rentals from American Party Lights. It cannot be rented as a standalone item.
Power Chart
Here is a guide for what our battery powered generator can be used for and how long it will last. Our battery powered generator is for customers who either are not allowed to use gas powered generators at their venue, don’t want the hassle of dealing with gasoline, fumes, or the noise a gas generator makes, or who need the ability to use the power indoors or out.

Each of our rentals list their power consumption under the Rental Details section on our website. Our generator has a 1,000 watt capacity, however when calculating how long the generator will last we like to be conservative and use 900 watts for our calculation.
Calculate 900 divided by the wattage used for the rental you are considering.
For example, the Black Light Mini Bar draws 18 watts. If you plugged one (1) Black Light Mini Bar into the generator it would last 50 hours (900 / 18 = 50 hours). If you want to plug 10 Black Light Mini Bars into the generator they would last 5 hours (900 / 180 = 5 hours).
900 / (qty of units x watts consumed per unit)
